Synopsis/Plot
Queen & Slim is a 2019 American romantic drama film directed by Melina Matsoukas, from a screenplay by Lena Waithe. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith as a couple who go on the run after killing a police officer in self-defense.
The film follows Queen and Slim, a young African-American couple who go on a first date. During their date, they are stopped by a police officer for a minor traffic violation. The situation escalates and the officer pulls out a gun, prompting Slim to shoot and kill him in self-defense. The couple then go on the run, attempting to evade the police and the media. As they journey across the United States, they become closer and discover a newfound sense of freedom, as well as a growing sense of responsibility towards their community.
