Synopsis/Plot
Queen of the Damned is a 2002 horror film based on the third novel of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series. The movie follows the story of the vampire Lestat, who has been awakened from a centuries-long slumber. He is drawn to the music of a young rock star, Jesse Reeves, and quickly becomes her mentor. Lestat’s emergence into the modern world attracts the attention of the ancient vampire queen, Akasha. She has been sleeping for thousands of years and is desperate to reclaim her rule over the vampires.
Lestat’s presence also draws the attention of the vampire hunter, Marius. He warns Lestat of Akasha’s plans and tells him to flee, but Lestat refuses to abandon Jesse. Lestat and Jesse become lovers and Lestat begins to teach her the ways of the vampire. He also reveals to her his plan to use his powers to create a new vampire race, one that will not be subject to Akasha’s rule.
Akasha is determined to reclaim her throne and capture Lestat. She enlists the help of two powerful vampires, Maharet and Khayman, who are determined to stop Lestat’s plans.
