Synopsis/Plot
Pushing Tin is a 1999 American comedy-drama film directed by Mike Newell, starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett, and Angelina Jolie. The film follows two air traffic controllers in New York City, Nick Falzone (Cusack) and Russell Bell (Thornton), who compete to be the best in their profession. Nick and Russell are both top-notch air traffic controllers, but their rivalry to be the best leads to disastrous consequences. Nick is a reckless and wild-hearted daredevil who is determined to be the best, while Russell is a more conservative and level-headed controller.
The film follows Nick and Russell as they compete for the top spot in the air traffic control room. Their competition quickly escalates as they push each other to take greater risks and increase their speed and efficiency. The rivalry eventually leads to a near-fatal accident, which forces Nick and Russell to re-evaluate their rivalry and their friendship.
