Synopsis – What to Expect from “Princess of Mars”
Princess of Mars is a 2009 sci-fi action-adventure film directed by Mark Atkins. It stars Antonio Sabato Jr. as John Carter, a Civil War veteran who is inexplicably transported to the planet Mars. There, he meets the beautiful Dejah Thoris (Traci Lords), the princess of the Martian city-state of Helium.
John quickly discovers that the planet is in a state of chaos, with two warring nations, the Heliumites and the Zodangans, locked in a bitter conflict. He joins forces with Dejah and her father, the ruler of Helium, to protect their city-state from the Zodangans. Along the way, he also discovers that he has special powers on Mars, which allow him to jump great distances and perform other superhuman feats.
John and Dejah form a strong bond as they battle the Zodangans, and eventually, they succeed in protecting Helium. However, John soon learns that the Zodangans have a powerful weapon that could destroy the entire planet. He must use all his newfound powers to save Mars from destruction. In the process, he discovers more about his mysterious past, and learns the true meaning of courage and sacrifice.
