Synopsis/Plot
Popeye is a 1980 musical comedy film directed by Robert Altman and starring Robin Williams as Popeye the Sailor Man. The film is based on the classic comic strip of the same name created by Elzie Crisler Segar. The story follows Popeye as he arrives in the small coastal town of Sweethaven in search of his long-lost father. Along the way, he meets a variety of eccentric characters, including the love of his life, Olive Oyl, and her brother, Castor Oyl. With the help of his new friends, Popeye battles the evil Bluto, who is determined to take over the town and ruin the lives of its citizens.
The film features an all-star cast, including Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl, Ray Walston as Wimpy, Paul Dooley as Popeye’s father, and Paul L. Smith as Bluto.
