Synopsis – What to Expect from “Pollyanna”
Pollyanna is a 1960 American drama film directed by David Swift and starring Hayley Mills in a dual role as the young orphaned girl Pollyanna and her rich Aunt Polly.
The film follows Pollyanna, a young orphaned girl sent to live with her wealthy and stern Aunt Polly in the fictional town of Harrington, Maine. At first, Pollyanna is met with a cold reception from her Aunt Polly, who is distant and unkind to her. However, Pollyanna’s cheerful and optimistic attitude eventually wins over her aunt and the other people in the town.
Pollyanna quickly makes friends with the townsfolk, and her sunny outlook on life helps to brighten the lives of those around her. She also helps to bring the town together, as they all come to appreciate her infectious spirit.
Meanwhile, Aunt Polly is slowly won over by her niece’s charm and begins to open up to her. She also begins to appreciate Pollyanna’s outlook on life and learns to embrace it.
The film culminates with Pollyanna’s efforts to bring the town together for a surprise birthday party for Aunt Polly. In the end, Pollyanna’s optimism and zest for life has managed to bring the town together and make Aunt Polly a happier and more open person.
