Synopsis – What to Expect from “Phil Spector”
Phil Spector is a biographical drama film that follows the life and trial of legendary music producer Phil Spector. The film begins in the 1960s, when Spector revolutionized the music industry with his “Wall of Sound” production technique. He quickly became one of the most successful music producers of the time.
The film then follows Spector as he begins to unravel, becoming increasingly paranoid and reclusive. He begins to drink heavily and his marriage to Ronnie Spector, lead singer of The Ronettes, begins to suffer. Eventually, Spector is arrested for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.
The film follows Spector’s trial, as he is represented by attorney Linda Kenney Baden. Spector’s eccentric behavior and bizarre courtroom outbursts make the trial an international spectacle. In the end, Spector is found guilty and sentenced to 19 years in prison.
The film ends with a reflection on Spector’s life, and how his musical legacy lives on despite his personal struggles. It also serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of fame and excess.
