Synopsis – What to Expect from “Peter’s Friends”
Peter’s Friends is a 1992 British comedy-drama film written by Rita Rudner and Martin Bergman, and directed by Kenneth Branagh.
The story follows a group of friends, all former members of an Oxford University theatre troupe, who reunite after ten years for a New Year’s Eve party at the home of Peter (Stephen Fry) and his wife, Alice (Phoebe Cates). The group includes the shyly romantic Roger (Hugh Laurie), the neurotic and divorced Sarah (Emma Thompson), the newly married and pregnant Mandy (Imelda Staunton), the estranged and recently widowed Brian (Tony Slattery), and the randy and single Andrew (Kenneth Branagh).
As the night progresses, the friends reconnect and reminisce about the past, but soon discover that the years have changed them all in unexpected ways. Peter’s long-simmering feelings for Sarah come to the surface, while Mandy and Brian’s marital problems come to a head.
