Synopsis – What to Expect from “Peacock”
Peacock is a psychological thriller that tells the story of John Skillpa (Cillian Murphy), a seemingly normal man living a quiet life in a small Nebraska town.
John is a loner who keeps to himself, but his life is thrown into chaos when an explosion rocks the town. John’s house is destroyed, and he is forced to live in the town’s old abandoned train station.
As the townspeople begin to suspect John of involvement in the explosion, he starts to unravel the mystery of his past. He discovers that he is actually a woman who was born as a hermaphrodite, and was surgically altered as a child to live as a man.
John’s life is further complicated when he meets Emma (Ellen Page), a young woman who is searching for her missing sister. Emma’s sister was last seen in John’s old home, and the two form an unlikely bond as they search for her.
John’s past comes back to haunt him as he is forced to confront his true identity and the secrets of his past. As the townspeople become increasingly suspicious of him, John must decide whether to stay and face his fears or flee and start a new life.
