Synopsis – What to Expect from “Peace, Love & Misunderstanding”
Peace, Love & Misunderstanding is a 2011 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Bruce Beresford and starring Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener, and Elizabeth Olsen.
The film follows the story of a New York City lawyer, Diane (Jane Fonda), who is going through a divorce and has been estranged from her family for years. When her teenage son, Jake (Nat Wolff), and daughter, Zoe (Elizabeth Olsen), come to stay with her for the summer, Diane decides to take them to her hippie mother, Grace (Catherine Keener), in Woodstock, New York.
At first, Diane and her children are taken aback by Grace’s free-spirited lifestyle, but soon they all begin to relax and enjoy themselves. Diane begins to reconnect with her mother, while Jake and Zoe make friends with the locals, including a handsome young musician, Jude (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
As the summer progresses, Diane and Grace’s relationship deepens, while Jake and Zoe learn valuable lessons about life and love. Diane is also forced to confront the mistakes she has made in her life and reevaluate her priorities. In the end, Diane and her children are all able to make peace with each other and find a better understanding of themselves and each other.
