Synopsis – What to Expect from “Pay the Ghost”
Pay the Ghost is a supernatural horror film released in 2015. It stars Nicolas Cage as Mike Lawford, a professor of literature who is struggling to cope with the sudden disappearance of his young son, Charlie.
The film begins with Mike and his wife Kristin (Sarah Wayne Callies), attending a Halloween parade in New York City with their son, Charlie. As the parade ends, Charlie disappears without a trace. Mike and Kristin frantically search for him, but to no avail.
Desperate, Mike turns to a mysterious old woman who claims to be a psychic. She tells him that Charlie has been taken by an ancient spirit known as the “Pay the Ghost”. The old woman warns Mike that he must pay the ghost a ransom to get Charlie back.
Mike is skeptical but desperate, so he decides to investigate. He discovers that the ghost is connected to a centuries-old curse that was placed on the city by a vengeful witch. Mike also learns that the ghost is connected to a mysterious group of people who are trying to resurrect the witch and unleash her curse.
With the help of a mysterious woman named Maggie (Veronica Ferres), Mike races against time to save his son from the ghost. Along the way, he discovers a secret world of magic and mystery that he never knew existed.
