Synopsis/Plot
Pay It Forward is a 2000 American drama film directed by Mimi Leder and starring Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel Osment. The film tells the story of Trevor McKinney, a 12-year-old boy who comes up with a plan to change the world for the better by doing three good deeds for others and asking them to “pay it forward” to three more people.
The film begins with Trevor’s social studies teacher, Eugene Simonet, giving his class an assignment to come up with an idea that will change the world and put it into action. Trevor takes the assignment to heart and comes up with the idea of “paying it forward,” which involves doing something nice for three people and asking them to do the same for three more people.
Trevor’s plan starts with his single mother Arlene, who works as a waitress to support them. He helps her out by doing her chores and taking care of his younger brother, but he soon finds himself in trouble with his teacher and principal for his disruptive behavior in class.
Meanwhile, Trevor’s plan begins to take effect as he helps out a homeless man named Jerry, a young drug addict named Chris, and a struggling single
