Synopsis – What to Expect from “Page Eight”
Page Eight is a 2011 British political thriller directed by David Hare and starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes, and Michael Gambon. The film follows Johnny Worricker (Nighy), a longtime MI5 officer, who discovers a secret document that could bring down the British government.
The film opens with Johnny Worricker, a veteran MI5 officer, being summoned to a meeting with his boss, Benedict Baron (Gambon). Baron is worried about a document that has been discovered, which contains information about a secret deal between the British government and a foreign power. Worricker is tasked with finding out who is behind the document and who leaked it.
Worricker quickly discovers that the leak is connected to a young woman named Nancy Pierpan (Weisz), who was once a close friend of Baron. Worricker is sent to investigate Pierpan, who is now living in London with her husband, a former MI6 agent.
As Worricker digs deeper, he discovers that the document is part of a much larger conspiracy involving a powerful group of British politicians and their foreign allies. He also discovers that Baron is involved in the conspiracy, and that he is trying to cover up the truth.
