Synopsis – What to Expect from “Pacific Heights”
Pacific Heights is a psychological thriller released in 1990. It stars Melanie Griffith, Matthew Modine, and Michael Keaton. The movie follows a young couple, Drake Goodman (Modine) and Patty Palmer (Griffith), who purchase an old Victorian home in the affluent Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.
The couple is excited about their new home, but their joy is short-lived when they receive a call from their real estate agent informing them that a tenant has already been living in the house for some time. The tenant is a mysterious man named Carter Hayes (Keaton), who claims to have been living in the house for three years and refuses to leave.
Drake and Patty attempt to evict Carter, but he refuses to go and even threatens to sue them for wrongful eviction. Meanwhile, Carter begins a campaign of terror against the couple, sabotaging their home and harassing them with menacing phone calls.
The couple soon discovers that Carter is a con artist who has been scamming people out of their homes and money for years. Drake and Patty enlist the help of a private investigator to uncover the truth about Carter and to put an end to his reign of terror.
In the end, Drake and Patty manage to outsmart Carter and reclaim their home, but not without a fight. With its intense suspense and thrilling plot, Pacific Heights is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
