Pablo Escobar: King of Cocaine is a 1998 biographical crime drama directed by Fernando Sulichin. The film follows the life of infamous Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar, from his humble beginnings to the height of his power.
The film begins with Escobar’s childhood in the slums of Medellin, Colombia, and follows his rise to power as a drug kingpin. He uses his wealth and influence to gain power and influence in the political and criminal worlds.
Escobar’s rise to power is not without its consequences, however. As his power grows, so does the violence in Colombia. Escobar’s enemies are targeted and killed, and the government is powerless to stop him. The Colombian government eventually declares war on Escobar, and a massive manhunt ensues.
Despite the government’s efforts, Escobar remains at large for years. Eventually, however, his luck runs out and he is captured and sentenced to prison. The film ends with Escobar’s death in 1993, and a reflection on his legacy as one of the world’s most powerful and influential drug lords.
