Synopsis/Plot
Outbreak is a 1995 American medical disaster-thriller film directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, and Donald Sutherland. The film focuses on an outbreak of a fictional Ebola-like virus, Motaba, in the fictional town of Cedar Creek, California.
The film begins with a team of scientists led by Major Salt (Dustin Hoffman) investigating a virus outbreak in Zaire. They discover a rare virus, Motaba, that is highly contagious and has a 100% mortality rate. The virus is so deadly that it can spread through the air, water, and soil.
The team is unable to contain the virus and it spreads to the United States, where it infects the small town of Cedar Creek, California. Major Salt is sent in to contain the virus, but is unsuccessful and the virus continues to spread.
The team discovers that the virus was created by a bio-warfare research lab and was released accidentally. Major Salt and his team must find a way to stop the virus before it spreads to the rest of the United States.
