Synopsis – What to Expect from “Our Kind of Traitor”

Our Kind of Traitor is a 2016 British-American spy thriller film directed by Susanna White and starring Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Damian Lewis, and Alicia von Rittberg.

The story follows Perry (McGregor) and Gail (Harris), a married couple who are on vacation in Marrakech. Perry is an English literature professor, and Gail is a lawyer. While in Marrakech, they meet a mysterious Russian man named Dima (Skarsgård) who turns out to be a money launderer for the Russian mafia. Dima begs them to help him defect to the West, and in exchange, he promises to give them information that could bring down a powerful international financial network.

Perry and Gail reluctantly agree and travel with Dima to London, where they meet Hector (Lewis), a British intelligence agent. Hector is initially suspicious of Dima’s motives, but eventually decides to use Dima’s information to bring down the financial network. However, the mission is compromised when Dima’s handlers become aware of his plan. Perry and Gail must now race against time to protect Dima and his family while also trying to prevent the financial network from collapsing.
