Synopsis – What to Expect from “Other People’s Money”
Other People’s Money is a 1991 American comedy-drama film directed by Norman Jewison and starring Danny DeVito, Gregory Peck, and Penelope Ann Miller.
The film follows Lawrence Garfield (DeVito), a ruthless corporate raider who targets a family-owned business in Rhode Island. Garfield plans to buy up the company’s stock, take it private, and then strip it of its assets. However, he meets his match in Andrew Jorgensen (Peck), a lawyer for the company who is determined to protect the business from Garfield’s hostile takeover.
Jorgensen rallies the townspeople and the company’s employees to stand up against Garfield and his corporate greed. He also enlists the help of the company’s president, Kate Sullivan (Miller), who is caught between Garfield’s demands and Jorgensen’s passionate defense of the company.
The film follows the battle between Garfield and Jorgensen, as they each try to outsmart the other. As the stakes become higher, the two men find themselves in a bitter fight to save the company and protect the townspeople. In the end, the townspeople and the company’s employees must decide who will win the battle for Other People’s Money.
