Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ordinary Decent Criminal”
Ordinary Decent Criminal is a 2000 crime comedy film starring Kevin Spacey, Linda Fiorentino and Stephen Dillane. The film follows Michael Lynch (Spacey), a notorious Dublin criminal, who is admired by the public and the police alike for his daring heists.
The film begins with Michael Lynch and his gang pulling off a daring bank robbery, which earns him the attention of the police and the press. The police, headed by Detective Noel Quigley (Dillane), are determined to catch Lynch and put an end to his criminal activities.
Meanwhile, Lynch is trying to provide for his family, which includes his wife, Christine (Fiorentino), and their two children. He also has a mistress, whom he keeps hidden from his family. Lynch is determined to keep his family out of his criminal activities, but his criminal lifestyle eventually begins to take its toll on his family.
At the same time, Lynch is also trying to stay one step ahead of the police. He pulls off a series of daring and inventive heists, which further enrage the police and the public. Eventually, Quigley manages to catch up with Lynch and arrest him.
In the end, Lynch is sentenced to prison, but is allowed to keep his family safe from his criminal lifestyle. The film ends with Lynch’s family visiting him in prison, and the audience is left with a sense of admiration for Lynch’s courage and ingenuity.
