The film follows award-winning filmmaker Nanfu Wang as she returns to her native China to explore the policy’s consequences. Through interviews with survivors, Wang uncovers the horrific stories of forced abortions, abandoned infants, and the psychological trauma inflicted on an entire generation. The film also examines the social and economic pressures that drove the policy and how it has shaped the lives of Chinese people today.
