Synopsis – What to Expect from “One Chance”
One Chance is a 2013 biographical film based on the true story of Paul Potts, a mobile phone salesman from Wales who achieved international fame as the winner of the first series of Britain’s Got Talent.
The film begins with a young Paul Potts (James Corden) working in a mobile phone shop in Wales. Despite his dreams of becoming an opera singer, he is stuck in a dead-end job and is constantly berated by his boss. His only solace is his girlfriend, Julie-Ann ( Alexandra Roach).
One day, Paul decides to take a chance and audition for Britain’s Got Talent. Despite the initial skepticism of the judges, Paul stuns the audience with his rendition of Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” and wins the competition.
Paul’s newfound fame takes him to new heights as he embarks on a world tour, performing in front of packed arenas. However, the pressures of fame and the demands of his newfound celebrity lifestyle take a toll on his personal life.
Meanwhile, Paul’s former boss, Mr. Cowell (Colm Meaney), is determined to take advantage of Paul’s newfound success and make a quick buck. He attempts to manipulate Paul into signing a contract that would give him the majority of the profits from Paul’s performances.
