Synopsis/Plot
October Sky is a 1999 American biographical drama film directed by Joe Johnston, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Cooper, and Laura Dern. The film is based on the true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner’s son from West Virginia who, despite his father’s disapproval, pursues his dream of becoming a rocket scientist.
The film follows Homer as he and his friends become passionate about building and launching rockets, even though their small mining town is not particularly supportive of their ambitions.
