Synopsis – What to Expect from “Obsession”
Obsession is a 1976 psychological thriller directed by Brian De Palma and starring Cliff Robertson, Geneviève Bujold, and John Lithgow.
The story follows an affluent New Orleans businessman, Michael Courtland (Cliff Robertson), who is devastated when his wife Elizabeth (Geneviève Bujold) and daughter are killed in a botched kidnap attempt. Ten years later, Michael is still struggling to cope with his loss, and he is visited by a mysterious woman named Sandra (also played by Bujold) who looks exactly like his deceased wife. When Michael starts to fall in love with Sandra, he discovers that she is a part of a sinister plot to drive him insane and steal his fortune.
Michael soon finds himself in a desperate race against time to unravel the mystery behind Sandra’s identity and save himself from the machinations of her captors. With the help of his friend Robert LaSalle (John Lithgow), Michael must uncover the truth about Sandra before it’s too late.
The movie follows Michael’s journey as he discovers the truth about Sandra and his own past. Along the way, he must confront his own guilt and grief, as well as the dark forces that threaten to destroy him. With its intense suspense and chilling atmosphere, Obsession is a thrilling ride that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
