Synopsis – What to Expect from “North to Alaska”
North to Alaska is a classic 1960s western adventure film starring John Wayne and Stewart Granger. The movie follows two prospectors, Sam McCord (John Wayne) and George Pratt (Stewart Granger), as they travel to Alaska in search of gold.
The movie begins with Sam and George arriving in Seattle, where they purchase supplies and hire a boat captain to take them to Alaska. Along the way, they face numerous obstacles, including a storm that nearly sinks their boat, as well as an encounter with a group of hostile natives.
Eventually, the two men reach Alaska and begin their search for gold. They have a number of adventures, including a run-in with a group of outlaws and a confrontation with a bear.
Eventually, they find a rich vein of gold and decide to stake a claim. However, just as they are about to do so, they are confronted by a group of men led by Sam’s former partner, Frank (Ernest Borgnine). Frank has been searching for Sam and George for months and demands a share of the gold.
Sam and George are forced to negotiate with Frank and eventually agree to split the gold with him. With their newfound wealth, the two men return to Seattle, where they are reunited with Sam’s fiancée, Jenny (Capucine).
The movie ends with Sam and George heading off to start a new life in Alaska.
