Synopsis – What to Expect from “Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer”
Norman Oppenheimer (Richard Gere) is a small-time operator who hustles through the backstreets of New York City, trying to make a living by connecting people with the right opportunity. He befriends a young Israeli politician, Micha Eshel (Lior Ashkenazi), who is on the rise in his country’s government, and Norman sees a chance to make a name for himself.
Norman helps Micha out with a few favors, and in return, Micha gives Norman a pair of expensive shoes as a token of his appreciation. This gesture of kindness brings Norman newfound respect and recognition in his social circles, and he begins to work his way up the social ladder.
Things take a turn when Norman’s newfound connections lead him to a shady business deal that could make him a lot of money. He decides to take the risk, but the deal goes bad and Norman finds himself in deep trouble with the law. He is arrested and sentenced to prison.
In prison, Norman reflects on his life and the choices he has made. He realizes that his ambition to make something of himself has cost him dearly, and he must now face the consequences of his actions.
After his release from prison, Norman is determined to start over and make something of himself. He reconnects with Micha, and the two of them use their influence to help the Israeli government on a peace mission.
