Synopsis – What to Expect from “Noel”
Noel is a 2004 drama film starring Susan Sarandon, Penélope Cruz, Paul Walker, Alan Arkin, and Robin Williams. The film is set in New York City during the holiday season and follows the lives of five people who are all connected in some way.
The story begins with Rose (Susan Sarandon) who is a lonely, elderly woman living in a small apartment in New York. She has no family and is feeling very alone and depressed during the holiday season. One day, a young man named Mike (Paul Walker) moves into the apartment upstairs. He is a struggling actor and Rose is immediately drawn to him.
Meanwhile, Jules (Penélope Cruz) is a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet. She has a young son named Noel (Tyler Posey) and is desperately trying to make the holidays special for him. Jules and Noel’s father, Artie (Alan Arkin), is a bitter old man who is estranged from his son.
On Christmas Eve, Rose, Mike, Jules, and Noel all find themselves in the same department store. They each have their own reasons for being there, but they are all looking for something to make their holiday special. As the night progresses, they all come to realize that they are connected in some way and that they all need each other to make it through the holidays.
