Synopsis – What to Expect from “No Holds Barred”
No Holds Barred is a 1989 American martial arts action comedy film starring Hulk Hogan, Joan Severance, and Kurt Fuller. The movie follows the story of professional wrestler Rip Thomas (Hogan), who is forced to defend his championship title against the evil television network executive Brell (Fuller).
The movie begins with Rip Thomas, a professional wrestler and champion of the World Wrestling Federation, enjoying his success and fame. However, his success is threatened when Brell, the head of the World Television Network, offers him a contract to join his network. Rip refuses, and Brell retaliates by arranging a match between Rip and his own personal bodyguard, Zeus (Tom “Tiny” Lister Jr.).
Rip is determined to defend his title and prove that he is the best wrestler in the world. He begins training with his friend, a former wrestling champion, and prepares for the match. Meanwhile, Brell continues to try to sabotage Rip’s career, hiring a gang of thugs to attack him and vandalize his gym.
In the end, Rip is forced to fight Zeus in the ring. Despite the odds, Rip manages to defeat Zeus and retain his championship title. Brell is humiliated and defeated, and Rip is awarded the title of “World Wrestling Federation Champion”.
