Synopsis/Plot
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is a 2008 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Peter Sollett and written by Lorene Scafaria, based on the novel of the same name by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. The film stars Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as the title characters, who meet during a frantic search for a legendary band’s secret show.
The film follows Nick and Norah, two teenagers living in New York City. Nick is a shy, introverted musician who is nursing a broken heart after his girlfriend, Tris, cheated on him. Norah is a spunky and outspoken girl who has a crush on Nick, but doesn’t know how to approach him.
When Nick’s bandmate, Dev, finds out about a secret show by a legendary indie band, he and Nick set out to find it. Norah tags along, and the trio embarks on a wild night of music, adventure, and romance. As they search for the secret show, Nick and Norah get to know each other better and eventually fall in love.
