Is your Netflix not working with NordVPN? You’re certainly not alone!
NordVPN came out in 2012 and has earned quite a reputation for itself all over the internet. Speed, stability, security, and budget-friendly plans are the highlights of NordVPN.
Along with the basics, NordVPN provides great Leak Protection and Geo-Spoofing.
But does that make it any good for Netflix?
Yes, it does.
With 59 countries to choose from for geo-spoofing, one of the most stable and secure VPN protocols (NordLynx), and unlocking 11 different Netflix libraries, NordVPN is one of the best VPNs for Netflix as well as other streaming services.
However, it looks like even NordVPN couldn’t escape the Netflix proxy ban. If your Netflix is not working with NordVPN, read on to find the reason and the solution.
Why Is Netflix Not Working With NordVPN?
Since you are here, it means you have fallen prey to Netflix Proxy Detection.
In January 2016, Netflix took action against its VPN users who were unlocking and accessing restricted libraries.
By tracking the location of its viewers, Netflix decides who is using a VPN and freezes them out temporarily.
Say you logged into your Netflix and 15 minutes later switched to a Canadian server using a VPN. The multiple tracking and security systems at Netflix will track this sudden change and halt your streaming until you turn off your VPN.
All this is the result of a lapse in your VPN’s security system. There’s a thing called IP Leaking. Some VPNs fail to protect your original IP Address, leaking it online for other websites to see.
Naturally, Netflix picks up on that and halts your services until you switch your VPN off.
Although NordVPN is one of the better VPNs when it comes to preventing IP Leaks, it’s not foolproof.
This is probably the reason Netflix is not working with NordVPN or any VPN you use, for that matter.
Although if you have seen the dreaded “Whoops, something went wrong…” screen, there’s no need to worry too much.
We’ll tell you how to get your Netflix back up and running with a NordVPN connection.
Netflix Not Working With NordVPN – 2 Proven Fixes!
What we’ve told you above is just one of the countless ways Netflix catches VPN users. So, it doesn’t matter what you do; Netflix will detect your VPN sooner or later. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything afterward.
Here are a few easy and quick methods to bypass the Netflix proxy ban with your NordVPN.
Connect To a Different Server
NordVPN can provide countless secure and stable servers from 58 different countries. So, if Netflix blocklists an IP Address of one of your servers, you have plenty of other options to turn to.
Changing your server will change your device’s IP Address, hence removing it from Netflix’s proxy blacklist. Here’s how to change your server in NordVPN.
Open NordVPN App.
Choose a location from the list of countries in the left pane of the window.
Click on the country to connect.
This will change your VPN server and IP Address.
Now, refresh your Netflix page, and it should start streaming.
There are multiple servers for every country, so you can do this every time you get the “using unblockers” error.
If you can’t find a working server, you can also contact NordVPN Customer Support. They are quick to reply and will point out the perfect server depending on your location.
Prevent IPv6 Leaks
Remember IP Leaking? It happens when your real IP Address leaks on the internet despite using a VPN. And when that happens, you’ll no longer get to stream restricted libraries of platforms like Netflix, Disney, and more.
But, if you prevent IPv6 leaks, you can prevent IP Leaking altogether.
Here’s how to disable IPv6 on Windows and macOS.
Follow the steps below to disable IPv6 on Windows.
Click on the Wi-Fi icon and launch Network & Internet settings.
Click on Network & Sharing.
Click on Change Adapter Settings.
Right-click on your Network and go to Properties.
Scroll and search Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
Disable the option and hit OK.
Here’s how to do the same on macOS.
Launch System Preferences.
Click on Network.
Select the network you are using.
Switch to the TCP/IP tab.
In the Configure IPv6 drop-down option, select Link-local only.
Hit Ok, and you’re done. This will disable IPv6 on macOS.
After doing this, relaunch Netflix, and you should be able to stream Netflix using NordVPN.
How Many Netflix Regions Can NordVPN Access?
Here are all the regions you’re missing out on if your NordVPN Netflix is not working.
Although NordVPN doesn’t have the highest number of Netflix Regions, it does let you access the big guns. (Japan, US, UK, etc.) Here’s the full list.
United Kingdom (UK)
United States (US)
That’s not the biggest list but what makes it impressive is the streaming quality. You’ll barely feel any difference in connection quality when streaming Netflix from any of these regions using NordVPN.
However, if you are purely interested in the number of accessible regions, perhaps Windscribe will interest you which lets you access 32 Netflix regions.
If doing the above doesn’t solve your “Netflix not working with NordVPN” problem, the last option is to change your VPN. But, it will be hard to find another VPN as good as Nord, considering the quality and price.
