Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ned Kelly”
Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger) is an Irish-Australian outlaw who lived in Victoria, Australia during the late 19th century. After his father dies in prison, Ned and his family are left destitute and are forced to live on the fringes of society.
Ned and his brother Dan (Laurence Kinlan) become involved in a series of robberies and other criminal activities in order to make ends meet. When the police start to close in on them, Ned and his gang decide to go on the run.
The police pursuit of Ned and his gang intensifies and they are forced to take refuge in the Australian bush. With a price on his head, Ned becomes a folk hero among the people of Victoria.
The police eventually catch up with Ned and his gang, and they are arrested and sentenced to death. Ned is given the opportunity to make a final statement before his execution. In his statement, Ned expresses his love for his family and his regret for the life he has led.
The movie follows Ned’s journey from a criminal on the run to a folk hero. It is a story of courage, loyalty and justice. It is also a story of how a man can be shaped by his environment and his experiences.
