Synopsis/Plot
National Lampoon’s European Vacation is a 1985 American comedy film directed by Amy Heckerling and written by John Hughes and Robert Klane. The film stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Dana Hill, and Jason Lively as the Griswold family, who are on a European vacation.
The Griswold family is eager to embark on a European vacation, but they soon find themselves in trouble when they win a contest to go to Europe, courtesy of a game show. After their arrival in London, they soon find themselves in a series of misadventures, including a visit to Stonehenge, a trip to Paris, and a visit to a German nudist camp. Along the way, they encounter a variety of characters, including an obnoxious tour guide, a cranky hotel manager, and a romantic Italian driver.
The film is filled with slapstick humor, as well as a few touching moments. Despite the comedy, the film also touches on themes of family, travel, and culture. National Lampoon’s European Vacation is a lighthearted and enjoyable film that is sure to bring a smile to viewers of all ages.
