Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Week with Marilyn”
My Week with Marilyn tells the story of Colin Clark, a young man who has recently graduated from Oxford and is looking for a job in the film industry. He is offered a job as a production assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, a film starring Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe.
Colin is instantly captivated by Marilyn and her beauty, and he is determined to make her feel welcome on the set. He helps her with her lines and her wardrobe, and the two quickly become close friends. Despite the disapproval of Olivier and the film’s producer, Colin continues to spend time with Marilyn and show her around England.
As the week progresses, Colin and Marilyn’s friendship deepens and they share moments of intimacy and tenderness. But as Marilyn’s mental health begins to deteriorate, Colin finds himself struggling to keep her safe from the press and her controlling husband, Joe DiMaggio.
Ultimately, Colin is forced to choose between his loyalty to the film and his loyalty to Marilyn. In the end, Colin learns an important lesson about love and loyalty, and he discovers that real friendship is unconditional.
