Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Tutor”
My Tutor is a 1983 romantic comedy directed by George Bowers. The film follows the story of high school senior Bobby Chrystal (Matt Lattanzi), who is struggling to pass his French class in order to graduate. His parents, desperate for him to succeed, hire a French tutor, Angela (Cissy Wellman), who is also a former beauty queen.
Bobby and Angela hit it off right away, and Bobby begins to fall for her. However, the age difference and Angela’s professional relationship with Bobby’s parents creates tension and awkwardness between them. Bobby’s friends, who are all jealous of his luck, try to sabotage the relationship.
Meanwhile, Bobby’s French grades begin to improve, but he soon realizes that he needs more than just academic help. He begins to understand that he needs emotional support and guidance to truly succeed.
The movie follows Bobby and Angela as they navigate the ups and downs of their developing relationship, while also trying to help Bobby pass his French class. Along the way, Bobby learns important lessons about love, life, and responsibility.
At the end of the film, Bobby and Angela finally admit their feelings for each other and Bobby passes his French class. Bobby is able to graduate and move on to college with his newfound knowledge and understanding.
