Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Sister in Law”
My Sister in Law is a 1976 romantic comedy starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Grant. The movie follows the story of a married couple, Jack (Lemmon) and Lee (Grant), who are struggling to keep their marriage alive after years of being together.
Jack is a successful advertising executive who has become bored with his job and his marriage. He begins to take an interest in his attractive sister-in-law, Amy (Nancy Dussault). Amy is a free-spirited artist who lives a carefree life and is uninterested in settling down.
Jack and Amy begin to spend more and more time together, and Jack finds himself falling in love with her. He attempts to keep his feelings a secret, but soon his wife, Lee, begins to suspect something is going on.
Jack and Lee’s marriage begins to deteriorate further when Lee discovers that Jack has been sending Amy secret messages of love. In an effort to save their marriage, Jack and Lee decide to take a trip to the Caribbean. While on the trip, Jack and Amy share a passionate kiss, and Lee discovers the truth.
Jack and Lee return home and must face the consequences of their actions. Jack and Lee must now decide if they can stay together despite their indiscretion or if they will have to go their separate ways.
