Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Days of Mercy”
My Days of Mercy follows Lucy (Ellen Page) and Mercy (Kate Mara), two sisters from a rural Ohio town, as they struggle to come to terms with their opposing beliefs on the death penalty.
Lucy is a passionate anti-death penalty activist, while Mercy, the eldest of the two sisters, is a lawyer who works for the state prosecuting capital cases. Despite their differences, the two sisters share a deep bond and have always been there for each other.
When Mercy is assigned to prosecute the case of a man on death row, Lucy is determined to make sure her sister does not go through with the execution. She joins forces with a local anti-death penalty group and begins to protest outside the prison.
Meanwhile, Lucy meets a young man named Alden (Aidan Turner) who is also part of the anti-death penalty movement. As they spend more time together, Lucy finds herself drawn to him and is surprised to discover that Alden is the son of the man on death row.
As the execution date looms closer, Lucy and Mercy must confront their beliefs on the death penalty and decide if their bond as sisters is strong enough to overcome their differences.
