Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Bodyguard”
My Bodyguard is a 1980 American comedy-drama film directed by Tony Bill, and written by Alan Ormsby. It stars Chris Makepeace, Adam Baldwin, Matt Dillon, Martin Mull, and Ruth Gordon.
The film follows the story of a young teen, Clifford Peache (Chris Makepeace), who moves to a new high school in Chicago. He is immediately targeted by a bully, Richie (Adam Baldwin), who is the leader of a gang of thugs. Clifford is unable to stand up for himself and is constantly harassed and bullied by Richie and his gang.
Desperate to protect himself, Clifford seeks out the help of a large, intimidating student, Moody (Matt Dillon). Moody is a loner who is feared by everyone in the school. Clifford offers to pay Moody to be his bodyguard and protect him from Richie. Moody agrees, and soon Clifford is no longer the target of Richie’s bullies.
The friendship between Clifford and Moody grows, and they both learn valuable lessons about friendship and loyalty. Clifford also discovers the courage to stand up for himself, and eventually confronts Richie in a fight. Clifford is able to win the fight and is no longer the target of Richie’s bullies.
My Bodyguard is a heartfelt coming-of-age story about friendship, loyalty, and standing up for yourself. It is a timeless classic that will leave viewers with a smile on their face.
