Synopsis/Plot
My Bloody Valentine is a 1981 Canadian slasher film directed by George Mihalka and written by John Beaird. The film follows a group of young adults in the small mining town of Valentine Bluffs, who are terrorized by an unknown killer on Valentine’s Day.
The film opens with a flashback to 1961, when a group of miners were trapped in an underground tunnel after a cave-in. The miners resorted to cannibalism to survive, and one miner, Harry Warden, became mentally unstable and killed two of his fellow miners. He was placed in a mental hospital, where he remained until he escaped on Valentine’s Day, one year later.
The film then jumps forward to the present day, where a group of friends, Axel Palmer, Sarah Palmer, T.J. Perkins, Sean Cunningham, and Irene White, are preparing for a Valentine’s Day dance. Meanwhile, an unknown killer is stalking the town, wearing a miner’s outfit and carrying a pickaxe. The killer begins murdering the townspeople one by one, leaving a bloody heart-shaped box at each crime scene.
