Synopsis – What to Expect from “My Best Friend’s Wedding”
My Best Friend’s Wedding is a romantic comedy released in 1997 starring Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Cameron Diaz, and Rupert Everett. The movie follows the story of Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts), a 27-year-old single woman who has been best friends with Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney) since college. When Michael suddenly announces his engagement to Kimmy Wallace (Cameron Diaz), Julianne realizes that she is in love with him and sets out to sabotage the wedding.
Julianne enlists the help of her friend George (Rupert Everett) to help her win Michael back. She begins by trying to make Kimmy look bad in front of Michael and his family, but her plan backfires when she accidentally reveals her true feelings to Michael. Michael is shocked and confused by Julianne’s confession, and he begins to question his decision to marry Kimmy.
Meanwhile, Julianne begins to realize that she has been selfish and that she needs to let Michael go. She tries to make amends with Kimmy, but Kimmy is still hurt by Julianne’s actions and refuses to forgive her. Julianne eventually comes to terms with the fact that Michael is going to marry Kimmy and she decides to attend the wedding.
At the wedding, Julianne finally makes peace with her feelings for Michael and accepts his decision to marry Kimmy. She gives a heartfelt speech about true love and friendship,
