Synopsis/Plot
Mulholland Drive is a psychological thriller directed by David Lynch. The film follows the story of aspiring actress Betty Elms (Naomi Watts) as she arrives in Los Angeles. She meets an amnesiac woman, Rita (Laura Harring), who has escaped a car accident. Betty and Rita set out to uncover the mystery of Rita’s identity, and in the process, they discover a dark world of Hollywood dreams and nightmares.
The film is full of surreal imagery, dream sequences, and a non-linear narrative. It follows Betty and Rita as they explore the dark side of Hollywood, including a seedy underworld of gangsters and drug dealers. As the story progresses, the two women become deeply entangled in a web of lies, secrets, and betrayals.
The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Justin Theroux, Ann Miller, and Robert Forster. Mulholland Drive is a visually stunning and haunting exploration of the dark side of Hollywood, and it is considered by many to be one of the greatest films of the 21st century.
