Synopsis – What to Expect from “Mrs Brown”
Mrs Brown is a 1997 British period drama film starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly. The film is set in the late 19th century and tells the story of Queen Victoria and her relationship with her servant and confidant, John Brown.
The film begins with Queen Victoria (Judi Dench) mourning the death of her beloved husband, Prince Albert. She is lonely and isolated, and her relationship with her children is strained. In her grief, she finds solace in her Scottish servant, John Brown (Billy Connolly). Brown is a gruff, no-nonsense man who is devoted to the Queen and her well-being.
The Queen and Brown quickly develop a close relationship, which is viewed with suspicion by her courtiers and family. They fear that Brown is taking advantage of the Queen’s grief and manipulating her. In order to protect the Queen, they attempt to separate her from Brown, but she refuses to let him go.
The Queen and Brown’s relationship continues to deepen, and they become increasingly close. Brown is devoted to the Queen and does everything in his power to protect her and make her happy. However, their relationship is threatened when the Queen’s eldest son, the Prince of Wales, returns from abroad. He is determined to put an end to the Queen’s relationship with Brown, and he begins to plot against him.
The Queen and Brown must fight to protect their relationship and keep it a secret from the court
