Synopsis – What to Expect from “Mr. Magoo”
Mr. Magoo is a 1997 family comedy film starring Leslie Nielsen as the title character, an eccentric, near-sighted billionaire who gets into a series of misadventures.
The movie begins with Mr. Magoo’s (Leslie Nielsen) lawyer, Quincy (Kelly Lynch), informing him that he has been chosen as the legal guardian for his great-nephew, Waldo (Nick Chinlund). Waldo is a rebellious teenager who has been living with his aunt, Mrs. Magoo (Dyan Cannon), since his parents passed away. Magoo is initially reluctant to take on the responsibility of raising Waldo, but eventually agrees to do so.
Meanwhile, Mr. Magoo is contacted by his old friend, Dr. J.T. Tuttle (Malcolm McDowell). Tuttle has invented a powerful new weapon, but he needs Magoo’s help to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. Magoo agrees to help, and he and Waldo set off on a globe-trotting adventure to keep the weapon safe.
Along the way, they encounter a variety of colorful characters, including a mad scientist (Ernie Hudson), a shady arms dealer (Randy Quaid), and a mysterious woman (Jennifer Garner). They also have to contend with the villainous Dr. Rafferty (Stephen Tobolowsky), who is determined to get his hands on the weapon.
