Synopsis/Plot
Moxie is a coming-of-age story about a sixteen-year-old girl named Vivian Carter who is fed up with the sexist and toxic status quo at her high school. Inspired by her mother’s Riot Grrrl past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her school. As Moxie’s popularity grows, Vivian is faced with the challenge of maintaining her anonymity while motivating her classmates to fight for change.
Vivian is determined to make a difference, but she soon learns that it won’t be easy. Her zine is met with resistance from school administrators, and she faces backlash from her peers. With the help of her friends and allies, Vivian must find the courage to stand up for what she believes in and create real, lasting change in her school. Along the way, she discovers her own voice and the power of activism.
