Synopsis/Plot
Mortal Kombat is a 1995 American fantasy martial arts action film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. The film is based on the popular video game series of the same name. It stars Robin Shou, Linden Ashby, Bridgette Wilson, and Christopher Lambert.
The movie follows the story of a martial arts tournament, known as Mortal Kombat, between the representatives of the realms of Earth and Outworld. The tournament is held in Outworld and the defending champions, the Outworlders, have won the last nine tournaments. If the Outworlders win the tenth tournament, they will be able to invade Earth. To prevent this, Lord Rayden, the god of thunder and protector of Earth, chooses three warriors to represent Earth in the tournament: Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade.
The three warriors must fight their way through the tournament, facing off against a variety of opponents from both Earth and Outworld. Along the way, they are aided by Rayden, who helps them unlock their hidden potentials. In the end, they must face the powerful sorcerer Shang Tsung, the leader of the Outworlders.
