Synopsis – What to Expect from “Moonstruck”
Moonstruck is a romantic comedy-drama film released in 1987. It stars Cher, Nicolas Cage, Danny Aiello, and Olympia Dukakis.
The story takes place in Brooklyn, New York. Loretta Castorini (Cher) is a 37 year old widow who works as an accountant. She is engaged to Johnny Cammareri (Danny Aiello), a man she does not love. Loretta’s family, including her father Cosmo (Vincent Gardenia) and her grandmother (Olympia Dukakis), are all pressuring her to marry Johnny.
One day, Loretta meets Ronny Cammareri (Nicolas Cage), Johnny’s estranged brother. Loretta and Ronny quickly fall in love, but they must keep their relationship a secret due to their families’ disapproval.
Loretta is torn between her love for Ronny and her duty to marry Johnny. She decides to go through with the marriage, but the night before the wedding, she tells Ronny that she loves him and can’t go through with the wedding.
Ronny and Loretta’s families are furious, but eventually accept their relationship. Loretta and Ronny get married and live happily ever after.
