Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life is a 1983 British musical comedy film written and performed by the Monty Python troupe. It is the seventh and final film of the Monty Python series.
The film is split into seven main sections, each dealing with a different stage of life. The opening scene is a short introduction to the film, introducing the audience to the Monty Python troupe.
The first section deals with the miracle of birth. It begins with a couple, played by Terry Jones and Michael Palin, who are expecting a child. They are visited by a “Grim Reaper” figure, played by Graham Chapman, who tells them that they must prepare for the arrival of their baby. The scene then cuts to a hospital, where the couple’s baby is born.
The second section deals with growing up. It follows the life of a young boy, played by Eric Idle, as he grows up and experiences the joys and challenges of childhood. He is joined by a group of other children, who share in his experiences.
