Synopsis/Plot
Monkeybone is a 2001 American fantasy black comedy film directed by Henry Selick and based on a comic strip by Kaja Blackley. The film stars Brendan Fraser, Bridget Fonda, Chris Kattan, Dave Foley, and Whoopi Goldberg.
The film follows Stu Miley (Fraser), a cartoonist who is in a coma after a car accident. His spirit travels to Downtown, a surreal world populated by his own creations, where he must defeat his wicked aunt (Goldberg) in order to save his own life.
Stu’s alter ego, Monkeybone (Kattan), is a mischievous monkey who is determined to help Stu escape from Downtown and return to the real world. Along the way, Stu must confront his fears and insecurities and learn to embrace life before it’s too late.
Monkeybone is a wild, zany ride through the afterlife with plenty of laughs and surprises. With its imaginative visuals, quirky characters, and offbeat humor, it’s a unique and enjoyable experience.
