Synopsis/Plot
Monkey Shines is a 1988 psychological horror film directed by George A. Romero and written by Romero and Michael McDowell. The film stars Jason Beghe as Allan Mann, a man who becomes quadriplegic after an accident and is given a monkey, named Ella, to help him with his daily life. Ella is trained to perform tasks for Allan, but soon develops an unusual bond with him that leads to her becoming increasingly protective and possessive.
The story follows Allan as he struggles to adjust to his new life, while Ella’s behavior becomes more and more erratic. As the bond between them grows stronger, Ella begins to display increasingly dangerous behavior, leading to a series of terrifying events.
