Synopsis – What to Expect from “Mojave”
Mojave is a 2015 psychological thriller directed by William Monahan. The movie follows Thomas, a successful, but troubled, Hollywood screenwriter who is struggling with his mental health and his career.
Thomas (Garrett Hedlund) is a successful Hollywood screenwriter, but he’s been struggling with his mental health and writer’s block. After a particularly rough night, he decides to take a break and drive out to the Mojave Desert. Once there, he meets Jack (Oscar Isaac), a mysterious drifter who tells him that he is a “king” and that he can help him regain his creative spark.
Jack takes Thomas on a journey into the desert, where he meets a variety of strange people and has surreal experiences. Thomas begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of what is happening to him.
Meanwhile, a criminal gang is searching for Jack, believing he is responsible for a series of murders. The gang is led by a psychopathic businessman, played by Mark Wahlberg. Thomas is drawn into the conflict, as he is forced to confront his own inner demons.
As the movie progresses, Thomas begins to understand what Jack is trying to tell him: that he needs to confront his inner demons and find the strength to take control of his own life. In the end, Thomas finds the courage to stand up to the gang and take back his life.
