Synopsis – What to Expect from “Mobsters”
Mobsters is a 1991 crime drama film directed by Michael Karbelnikoff, and stars Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey, and Richard Grieco. The film is set in the 1920s and follows the rise of four young mobsters from the Lower East Side of New York City.
The story focuses on four childhood friends, Charlie Luciano (Christian Slater), Meyer Lansky (Patrick Dempsey), Lucky Luciano (Richard Grieco), and Bugsy Siegel (Richard Panebianco). They grow up together in the slums of New York, and are determined to get out and make something of their lives. After numerous failed attempts at legitimate business ventures, they turn to a life of crime and form a powerful mob syndicate.
The four quickly rise to power and become the most powerful mobsters in the city. They build an empire of illegal activities, such as bootlegging, gambling, and extortion. However, their newfound power and wealth come at a cost, and they soon find themselves at odds with rival gangs, the police, and even the government.
The film follows the four mobsters as they struggle to maintain their power and wealth, while trying to stay one step ahead of their enemies. They must also grapple with their own inner demons, as they come to terms with the consequences of their criminal activities. In the end, the four must decide if the power and money are worth the risks they must take.
