Synopsis/Plot
Moana is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 56th Disney animated feature film. The film is about a young girl named Moana, who is the daughter of the chief of a Polynesian village. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets out on a journey to save her people. She teams up with the once-mighty demigod Maui and sails across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage of self-discovery. Along the way, she meets creatures both real and imaginary, and discovers her own identity and place in the world.
The film is set in ancient Polynesia, and features a vibrant soundtrack of original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina. Moana is voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, while Dwayne Johnson voices Maui. The film also features the voices of Jemaine Clement, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Alan Tudyk, and Phillipa Soo.
